Xtream IPTV not working? Find the cause and fix it

A five-minute check that tells you whether the problem is your connection, one channel, your device or your internet provider, then the fix for each.

Last checked and updated October 23, 2026

Start here

The 5-minute check

  1. Test another channel

If only one channel fails, it is that source; try its backup feed (most sports channels have two or three). If nothing plays, keep going.

  2. Test another device or app

Open the same login on your phone in IPTV Smarters. If it plays there, the problem is the TV app or device, not the service.

  3. Restart the device and the router

Unplug both for 30 seconds. It clears most frozen apps, full caches and stuck Wi-Fi connections.

  4. Check the account screen

In the player's Account info screen, the status should say Active, the expiry date should be in the future, and active connections should be below your limit.

  5. Send us a screenshot

If it still fails, send a photo of the error and your device name on WhatsApp. We can see from our side whether the line is reaching the server.

Is your internet provider blocking IPTV?

Some are, at specific times. Courts in the UK, Canada and parts of Europe issue “live blocking” orders that make providers cut off certain streaming servers for the length of a match. In the US, some providers slow down heavy video traffic when their network is busy.

The signs are clear: streams fail right as a game starts but work before and after it, or everything buffers on Sunday afternoons and is fine on weekday mornings. A VPN hides the traffic from your provider and usually fixes both. Our VPN guide explains how to set one up on a Firestick.

What happened to Xtream IPTV?

Nothing happened to this service; it is active and taking orders. The question comes up because two separate things share the name:

  • Xtream Codes, the server software that created the login format, went offline in 2019. The format survived and is still used by almost every player. More on Xtream Codes.
  • A different, similarly named IPTV service shut down in 2025, which caused a wave of “is it gone?” searches. It was not us.

Device-specific fixes

  • Firestick: clear the player's cache, delete leftover APK files in Downloader, and restart weekly. Firestick guide.
  • Samsung, LG and Hisense TVs: reinstall the player app and re-add the login on its website. Smart TV setup.
  • Roku: restart from Settings › System › Power and hide unused channel groups. Roku guide.
  • Windows: switch to a wired connection and set the output to TS. PC guide.

Questions

What happened to Xtream IPTV?

Nothing: Xtream IPTV is active and taking orders. The name gets mixed up with two other things. Xtream Codes, the server software behind the login format, went offline in 2019, and a different, similarly named IPTV service shut down in 2025. Neither was this service.

Why is IPTV not working right now?

Usually one of three things: your home connection or Wi-Fi, a single channel source being down, or your internet provider slowing or blocking streams during a big live event. Work through the quick check on this page; it separates the three in about five minutes.

Does IPTV not work anymore?

It does. The 2019 shutdown of the Xtream Codes software and the closure of a few well-known services led to that rumour, but the Xtream login format still powers almost every IPTV player and service today.

Is my internet provider blocking IPTV?

Possibly, during live sport. Courts in the UK, Canada and several European countries order providers to block some streaming servers during matches, and some US providers slow heavy video traffic at peak times. If streams stop at kick-off but work at other times, that is the likely cause; a VPN usually gets round it.
